Ballure Reservoir is located just outside Ramsey on the Mountain Road, and it’s one of those places that you’ve probably driven past a thousand times and even known it was there.

But it is well worth a visit. As Reservoir go, it’s a pretty small one, and not a long distance to walk, but IMHO it is probably the most scenic one on the Island.

Getting to it is super easy, just get onto the mountain and just outside Ramsey after the Hairpin (travelling towards Douglas) it is about a mile up the road, there is a clearly visible car park and you can just walk down from there. When you get to the bottom of the first path, turn RIGHT after the gate.

It will take about 30 minutes to hike around. At the time of writing the footpath is partially blocked but assume it’s just temporary.
